Useful Knowledge about Tractor Hydraulic Cylinders

Tractor Hydraulic Cylinders are part of the hydraulic system. They have a long rod shape and are made from materials such as aluminum or high-quality steel like carbon steel. They come in diameters ranging from 32 to 600 millimeters and have stroke lengths from 10 to 2,500 millimeters. Generally, hydraulic cylinders are designed for use in various industries, including agricultural machinery well-known to us, such as tractors, combine harvesters, and sugarcane loaders. Tractor hydraulic cylinders are called by different names depending on their design or use, such as Front Push Hydraulic Cylinder Trailer Ladder Lift Hydraulic Cylinder Mini Hydraulic Cylinder and others.

Tractor Hydraulic Cylinders in the Hydraulic System

The hydraulic system is designed to facilitate tractor operators with ease when lifting, placing equipment, or reducing the effort required to steer the tractor. This system works on the principle of pressurizing fluid and sending it through pipes to push the piston to move, transferring power from the piston's movement to operate various systems. The operation of the tractor hydraulic cylinders relies on converting hydraulic oil pressure energy into linear mechanical energy. Hydraulic cylinders can be mainly divided as follows:

         - Single Acting Cylinder: A hydraulic cylinder that operates on one side only. This type has only one hydraulic oil inlet and outlet or a single port on one side of the cylinder. The force generated from the hydraulic oil pressure acts in one direction, and a spring or gravity usually pushes the piston slowly back to its original position.

        - Double Acting Cylinder: A hydraulic cylinder that works in two directions. This type is the most commonly used with various operation methods and installation forms. It is structurally divided into two types: Round type hydraulic cylinders and Square type hydraulic cylinders.

The cylinder has two hydraulic oil ports on both sides of the piston that drive the piston to move back and forth by hydraulic oil pressure from both sides. The main components of a hydraulic cylinder include the piston, cylinder barrel, piston rod, oil seals, and dust seals.
